Job description
Overview
The Senior Well Intervention Engineer is responsible for overseeing well intervention engineering activities focused on ensuring safe, cost-effective, and optimized production and injection operations. This role operates primarily from the NOC Well Intervention offices in Doha, with occasional visits to the Al Shaheen field, logistics bases, or service providers' locations. The position demands adherence to strict HSE policies and the application of the ALARP principle to manage health, safety, and environmental risks.
Key Accountabilities and Activities
- Develop and coordinate well intervention programs for platform-based operations to enhance production and injection safely and efficiently.
- Provide technical support in well intervention and occasionally completions, collaborating with drilling and production departments to ensure quality contractor services.
- Manage contracts relating to well intervention activities and ensure adherence to operational requirements.
- Prepare and distribute well intervention job programs timely, ensuring all relevant internal and external stakeholders are informed and engaged before execution.
- Maintain effective communication with offshore well intervention supervisors and other parties concerning job plans, modifications, outcomes, and equipment logistics.
- Ensure diligent reporting of offshore activities including non-productive time on a daily basis.
- Assess operational risks, implement mitigation strategies and contingencies, and organize necessary resources including personnel and equipment logistics.
- Document lessons learned regarding safety, health, and operational aspects after job completion and promote continuous improvement initiatives, including technology updates and participation in greenhouse gas reduction and energy efficiency programs.
- Provide technical expertise during equipment selection for well interventions and support tendering and pre-qualification processes to ensure successful operations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- IWCF Level 4 certification.
- Minimum of 15 years of oilfield experience, including at least 3 years of offshore exposure.
- Extensive knowledge of well intervention equipment (slick line, coiled tubing, pumping, treatments) and workflows, as well as completion and workover equipment.
- Proficient understanding of equipment request and mobilization processes and ability to engage in cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in English with strong communication skills.
