Senior MEP Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior MEP Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and ongoing enhancement of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems within designated facilities. The role demands ensuring the dependable, safe, and effective function of key building services such as HVAC systems, chillers, electrical networks, plumbing, and fire safety systems through adept maintenance scheduling, technical direction, and asset management.

This role is critical to maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, quality benchmarks, contractual KPIs, and client expectations while fostering operational excellence, system dependability, and economical service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the management, maintenance, and optimization efforts of MEP systems including HVAC, chillers, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection equipment.
• Evaluate engineering plans, technical schematics, specifications, and method statements to verify adherence to project and client standards.
• Offer specialized technical support for diagnosing and resolving intricate MEP and building service issues.
• Recommend technical improvements to boost system reliability, energy efficiency, and asset longevity.
• Plan, oversee, and track preventive, corrective, predictive, and emergency maintenance operations.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards, are efficiently executed, and fulfill SLAs and KPIs.
• Monitor machinery performance and apply corrective measures to reduce downtime and enhance reliability.
• Support asset lifecycle planning and execution of major maintenance projects.
• Oversee MEP tasks related to refurbishment, fit-outs, and capital enhancements.
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to guarantee smooth project workflows.
• Conduct site visits, technical inspections, testing, commissioning, and project handovers.
• Assess contractor outputs and validate completed tasks before approval.
• Ensure compliance with all local laws, regulations, safety, and quality management procedures.
• Perform technical audits, inspections, and risk evaluations to identify improvement opportunities.
• Maintain precise maintenance logs, asset documentation, and required statutory certificates.
• Investigate technical failures and implement preventative and corrective solutions.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Distribute resources appropriately and supervise team performance to guarantee service efficiency.
• Maintain strong partnerships with clients, consultants, suppliers, and service providers.
• Encourage ongoing professional development and training within the engineering team.
• Prepare detailed engineering reports, maintenance analytics, technical assessments, and status updates.
• Track maintenance KPIs, asset functionality, and operational expenses and suggest enhancements as needed.
• Assist with budget planning, procurement processes, and contract oversight.
• Drive initiatives to continuously improve operational efficiency, quality of service, and client satisfaction.

Health, Safety, and Information Security

• Comply fully with Khidmah’s health, safety, environmental policies, and statutory requirements, ensuring personal awareness and adherence to updates or new procedures.
• Follow Khidmah’s information security policies, including participation in security awareness training, incident reporting, and maintaining protected user accounts and passwords.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is required.
• Holding a Professional Engineering certification is preferred.
• Strong aptitude in MEP systems, HVAC, chillers, and building maintenance is essential.

Experience and Skills

• At least 10 years’ experience in MEP engineering, building maintenance, or facilities management.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in senior MEP engineering or supervisory roles with hands-on exposure to MEP systems, HVAC, chillers, and maintenance operations.
• Expertise in project planning and implementation.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems effectively.
• Leadership qualities with proven team management skills.
• Competency in contract and stakeholder management.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations as well as quality standards.
• Strong skills in technical communication and report writing.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Effective time management and decision-making capabilities.
