About the Role
AllSite Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join a respected engineering firm based in Arklow, County Wicklow. This role focuses on supporting major energy and industrial projects, involving full lifecycle project management for technically complex and large-scale ventures.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cost planning, benchmarking, and feasibility studies during pre-construction and planning phases for significant energy and industrial projects.
- Develop cost plans, prepare budgets, and produce cash flow forecasts.
- Support procurement strategy formulation and manage tendering procedures.
- Prepare and review Bills of Quantities, scopes of work, and tender documentation.
- Assess tenders and provide contract award recommendations.
- Identify project risks and contribute to value engineering initiatives.
- Oversee commercial elements of main contracts and subcontract packages throughout construction.
- Handle measurement, valuation, and agreement of interim payments.
- Manage variations, change control, and compensation events effectively.
- Deliver precise cost reporting, forecasting, and manage financial risks.
- Coordinate closely with project management, engineering, and site teams.
- Ensure full compliance with contractual obligations including NEC, FIDIC, or bespoke contracts.
- Prepare, negotiate, and finalize project accounts during close-out.
- Settle subcontractor accounts and assist commercial close-out and project handover activities.
- Conduct cost analyses and reporting after project completion.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role.
- Proven track record managing projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- Experience in sectors such as power, energy centres, pharmaceutical, data centres, or heavy industrial projects.
- Sound knowledge of cost control, procurement strategies, and contract administration.
- Strong commercial awareness combined with analytical capabilities.
- Excellent communication and ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience within the energy or power generation sectors.
- Familiarity with NEC, FIDIC, or Irish standard forms of contract.
- Experience working on projects with values exceeding €50 million.
