Role Overview

The AI Group at Fin drives innovation by defining new machine learning (ML) products, researching suitable algorithms, and quickly deploying prototypes to customers. The team is highly product-focused, consisting of over 50 ML scientists, engineers, designers, and researchers collaborating across departments to rapidly deliver impactful solutions, including supervised models, unsupervised clustering, transformer neural networks, and fine-tuned large language models (LLMs). Fin measures customer impact rigorously.

Fin plans to expand and seeks an experienced manager to lead a high-performing ML scientist team. The Engineering Manager role combines leadership with technical expertise, including mentoring, advising on technical work, and occasionally reviewing code or pull requests.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 10+ ML scientists across Dublin, London, and Berlin offices.
• Collaborate closely with ML, engineering, product, and design leadership to align team efforts and product impact.
• Drive team productivity, performance, and reliability.
• Contribute to team growth and brand promotion internally and externally through recruitment and event participation.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience managing ML teams delivering rapid, impactful results.
• At least 5 years of personal contributions in ML, AI, NLP, or related data domains.
• Strong applied ML expertise and programming skills.
• Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication across technical and cross-functional teams.
• Master’s or PhD degree in an ML-related discipline or equivalent knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience launching ML products used by end-users.
• Background in research settings.
• Expertise in areas such as NLP, deep learning, Bayesian methods, reinforcement learning, or clustering.
• Competence with data visualization and SQL.
• Deep understanding of software engineering best practices.
• Experience recruiting ML scientists as a hiring manager.
