About the Role
DPD UK, a leading delivery company committed to sustainability and exceptional customer service, is seeking an experienced Security Officer for their Tamworth Logistics site. This permanent, full-time role offers 40.25 hours weekly, operating on a 4 days on, 4 days off rotating schedule. Shifts are 12 hours, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The position comes with an annual salary of approximately £39,000. The workplace is based at DPD Tamworth, Indurent Park, B78 2FG, in a fast-moving environment within a £2 billion turnover business.
Responsibilities
- Maintain safety and security of the premises and assets by following site Assignment Instructions, daily Key Performance Indicators, and Security job cards thoroughly.
- Prepare detailed and accurate Incident Reports, taking necessary actions when incidents occur.
- Investigate missing packages to reduce claims by analyzing CCTV footage and the internal tracking system to identify loss areas.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure high-quality security and customer service.
- Coordinate activities involving contractors, employees, and visitors.
- Communicate and liaise with emergency services and other relevant external organizations when required.
- Perform routine testing on fire alarms, CCTV, door access, and shutter security systems.
- Monitor live CCTV, access control, and thermal monitoring systems consistently.
- Daily upload and maintain the Facial Recognition system to ensure operational accuracy.
- Carry out gatehouse duties involving vehicle management.
- Respond to phone calls and assist the Security Supervisor with various assigned tasks.
- Manage airport-style search areas, conducting thorough searches of staff and visitors upon exit.
- Conduct targeted searches of staff and trailers as necessary.
- Perform internal and external foot patrols regularly.
- Support incident management and provide assistance when incidents occur.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in security roles; former armed forces, police, or prison service backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency with IT systems is essential, including CCTV operations, visitor booking systems, facial recognition software, and creating comprehensive written reports.
- Familiarity with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, or similar digital platforms is desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and the public effectively.
