School Caretaker

Role Overview

We seek a dependable and hands-on Caretaker to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for the pupils and staff at a school located in Sefton. This role requires an individual with basic DIY abilities, a proactive approach, and a commitment to high-quality work.

Key Duties

• Manage site security by unlocking the school daily, securing it at day's end, and serving as a key holder.
• Conduct general maintenance and basic repairs such as changing light bulbs, minor plumbing tasks, painting, installing shelving, and other simple fixes.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of outdoor grounds, pathways, and play areas, ensuring they are hazard-free.
• Carry out routine safety checks like water testing and fire alarm testing, and coordinate with contractors for major servicing needs.
• Support the school community by assisting with event setups, assemblies, and handling deliveries.

Desired Qualifications and Traits

• Basic handyman skills, including carpentry and plumbing, are preferred.
• Reliability and initiative to identify and accomplish necessary duties safely.
• Good communication skills and a friendly demeanor to be an approachable presence at the school.
• Physical capability to perform manual tasks including lifting furniture and working outside in varying weather conditions.
