Job description
Role Summary
Alliance One Zambia is seeking a Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) and Fleet Officer reporting directly to the Operations Manager. This permanent role focuses on ensuring adherence to safety, health, environmental, and transportation regulations while managing the efficient and safe operation of the company’s vehicle fleet. The officer will contribute to enhancing safety culture and operational performance across all locations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and oversee SHE policies aligned with legal and corporate standards.
- Perform workplace evaluations including inspections, risk assessments, safety audits, and investigations of incidents.
- Organize and facilitate SHE-related training sessions, employee inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives for staff and contractors.
- Keep thorough SHE documentation, incident records, compliance reports, and required statutory registers.
- Drive promotion of safety consciousness across all Alliance One sites.
- Supervise the company’s motor vehicle and motorbike fleet to guarantee roadworthiness and compliance.
- Schedule and monitor vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, fleet operation expenses, and overall utilization.
- Ensure all fleet vehicles hold valid licenses, insurance, fitness certificates, and tracking equipment.
- Conduct investigations into fleet accidents, arrange for repairs, and maintain precise fleet records.
- Compile and present SHE and fleet performance reports and assist with audits and inspections.
- Ensure company policies and regulatory safety guidelines are strictly followed.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Full Grade 12 with passes in English and Mathematics.
- Diploma or Degree in fields such as Occupational Health & Safety, Public Health, Environmental Management, Logistics, Transport Management, or related discipline.
- Membership and practicing license from the Zambia Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (ZIOSH) and/or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) is mandatory.
Experience
Applicants should possess between three and five years’ relevant experience in Safety, Health & Environment and/or Fleet Management, ideally within logistics, manufacturing, agricultural, or trading sectors.
