Role Overview
Become a Roadside Technician at RAC and contribute to keeping drivers moving across the UK. This role involves responding to vehicle breakdowns and providing roadside repairs with professionalism and skill.
Location and Work Hours
Based in the Leicester cluster, your coverage area includes Leicester, Oadby, Wigston, Hinckley, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough, and Loughborough. You'll start and finish your working day at your home, working demand-driven shifts that average 40 hours per week with the option to work overtime.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive base salary starting at 36400 annually, with on-target earnings realistically reaching 60000. Top performers can increase earnings substantially through performance bonuses and enhanced pay rates for overtime.

What You Will Do
As a crucial member of our Patrol division, your responsibilities will include performing expert mechanical roadside repairs, utilizing vehicle diagnostics, and providing emergency breakdown assistance. Tasks range from battery replacements and tyre changes to intricate fault-finding. Your role requires quick problem-solving to restore vehicles efficiently and reassure members in urgent situations.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Hold an NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or an equivalent qualification paired with at least two years of relevant experience, or alternatively, possess a minimum of five years' experience as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic.
- Possess a full UK driving licence with fewer than six penalty points.
Work Equipment Provided
We supply all necessary equipment including your own RAC van, fuel card, full uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic kits to ensure you are fully prepared to handle all roadside challenges.
