About Patients Australia
Patients Australia serves as the national peak body advocating for patient interests. As an independent not-for-profit organization, it strives to enhance healthcare access, affordability, safety, and patient-centeredness. Their research, focused on patient voices, underpins their advocacy efforts including submissions, media commentary, and health system campaigns.
Role Overview
This role entails full ownership of research projects from inception through final reports and ensuring the findings influence policy and advocacy. The Research Manager will conduct projects across multiple health system areas, such as medicine accessibility, out-of-pocket costs, virtual and primary care, and specialist experiences. Rather than academic publication, the emphasis is on creating impactful reports, briefs, submissions, and presentations aimed at shifting healthcare policy to benefit patients.
Key Responsibilities and Experience Required
- Manage the entire research process independently, including survey design and execution, managing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data.
- Produce clear, accurate, high-quality outputs targeted to consumers, policymakers, and healthcare decision-makers.
- Leverage profound understanding of the Australian health policy landscape to frame research findings credibly for policymakers, media, and partners.
- Maintain a strong attention to detail and accuracy in research deliverables.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- PhD in a pertinent discipline such as public health or health services research.
- Minimum of five years post-doctoral experience managing research projects end to end.
- Demonstrated proficiency in handling independent work with minimal supervision.
- Track record in designing and conducting surveys using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
- Experience producing comprehensible, high-quality reports for non-academic audiences including policy and media stakeholders.
