Research Engineer

About the Role

Join MED-EL's Research Department in Riyadh to contribute towards innovative projects focused on enhancing human hearing solutions. We seek passionate professionals eager to engage in impactful research and development activities combining clinical insights and engineering expertise.

Key Duties

• Collaborate closely with clinicians and engineers to translate research questions into structured modeling assignments and detailed experimental protocols.
• Work alongside researchers and specialists across domains, facilitating thorough documentation and comprehensive reporting.
• Take active part in research initiatives, guiding projects through all phases from start to completion.
• Design, develop, and validate machine learning and deep learning algorithms using biomedical data and device outputs.
• Curate and prepare datasets essential for model training and assessment, ensuring continuous enhancement of model performance.
• Create and support internal research tools and software frameworks to build prototype solutions.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrate solid knowledge of machine learning encompassing model development, training, and evaluation, with practical proficiency in Python libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Have hands-on experience gained through academic projects, theses, competitions, or personal initiatives involving machine learning models.
• Exhibit strong analytical capabilities to comprehend and apply techniques from scientific literature.
• Maintain good programming standards; experience or interest in C++/Qt programming and medical image processing or 3D visualization is advantageous.
• Communicate effectively in English and collaborate well within multidisciplinary teams.
