Role Summary
A prominent construction group in Ireland seeks a Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial aspects of active projects, spanning procurement to final account. This practical role allows significant impact on financial outcomes, risk management, and career progression within a globally engaged and resourceful company.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tender documents, assess and choose subcontractors, negotiate terms, and finalize subcontract agreements.
- Oversee financial and commercial management of subcontractor accounts until their closure.
- Create valuations and manage variations supported by detailed records, coordinating approvals as work advances.
- Update and submit projected final accounts within required deadlines.
- Conduct Contract Value Reviews (CVRs), assist in forecasting, cost tracking, and liquidity management.
- Identify and report commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project duration.
- Collaborate with site management to address and influence commercial aspects and implement strategic approaches.
- Lead, mentor, and validate work performed by Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors.
Candidate Profile
- Extensive Quantity Surveying experience in construction, including expertise in valuations, variations, cost control, and final accounts.
- In-depth understanding of JCT contracts, subcontractor procurement, and contract administration processes.
- Proficient in conducting CVRs, financial forecasting, cost reporting, and managing cash flow.
- Strong negotiation capabilities and ability to effectively manage subcontractor relationships and foster teamwork.
- Possess a degree in Quantity Surveying or related field, with CIOB membership or active pursuit thereof.
- Knowledge of the Standard Method of Measurement and comprehension of contract law is beneficial.
- Experience with Design and Build contracts exceeding €15 million and familiarity with claims or dispute resolution is advantageous.
