Job Overview
As a Purchasing Manager at Hilton in Auckland, you will play a vital role in enhancing guest experiences by managing procurement processes that ensure supply stability and cost efficiency within our hospitality environment. Your work involves strategic supplier engagement, contract negotiation, and inventory oversight to maintain seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee purchasing and inventory workflows to maintain optimal stock of general merchandise
- Coordinate with chefs and hotel leadership to align procurement with operational needs
- Develop and nurture supplier partnerships to secure competitive prices and timely supply delivery
- Inspect incoming shipments for compliance with order criteria and quality standards
- Lead, support, and motivate a procurement team through performance management and coaching
- Identify and mitigate risks related to supply chain disruptions, price fluctuations, and regulatory compliance
- Analyze market trends to anticipate pricing changes and supply conditions supporting informed purchasing decisions
Candidate Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Hospitality, or related disciplines
- At least five years of purchasing or procurement experience, ideally within hotel or hospitality sectors
- Expertise in sourcing, negotiating, and maintaining supplier relations to optimize quality and cost
- Solid knowledge of inventory control, stock management, and procurement systems
- Competence in budgeting, cost evaluation, and monitoring procurement performance
- Acquaintance with regional procurement laws, health and safety regulations, and sustainability considerations
- Meticulous organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Capability to thrive in dynamic environments and adapt quickly to evolving operational needs
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and company ethics in all purchasing activities
