About the Role
Palmetto Publishing is looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee the entire publishing process for our self-publishing authors. This role involves guiding authors from initial concept through to publication, ensuring a seamless, personalized, and empowering experience at every stage. As the main point of contact, you will anticipate the needs of authors, proactively address potential challenges, and help bring their stories to fruition with high standards of quality and creativity. Maintaining a customer-focused approach throughout is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocate for authors during the publishing journey by anticipating their needs, setting clear expectations, and removing obstacles.
- Engage actively with authors through phone and email to offer guidance, encouragement, and timely progress updates.
- Assign suitable designers, editors, and illustrators to projects based on their scope and requirements.
- Review and quality check final artworks, formatting, and proofs to ensure they meet quality standards and client expectations.
- Maintain transparent and prompt communication between authors and vendors to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
- Track project timelines and milestones proactively to keep all publishing initiatives on schedule.
- Work with management to implement new services and pilot initiatives aimed at enhancing the publishing experience.
- Identify pain points in the author journey and suggest practical, scalable improvements.

- Strong problem-solving capabilities, able to act independently and resolve issues swiftly.
- Passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences.
- Empathetic and adaptable, able to support clients from diverse backgrounds and with varied expectations.
- Collaborative team player with a growth mindset.
- Minimum of 3 years in client-facing roles such as customer success, account management, or project coordination.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word.
- Forward-thinking, resilient, and goal-driven personality.
- Familiarity with publishing processes, Salesforce, Adobe Acrobat Pro or graphic design software, editorial practices (e.g., Microsoft Word Track Changes), and client communication strategies is preferred but not mandatory.
