About the Role
Are you ready to begin a new opportunity? As a Produce Clerk, you understand the importance of customers finding exactly the produce they need quickly and easily. Maintaining a well-stocked and organized produce department is vital to enhancing the shopping experience and fostering customer loyalty. Comprehensive training will be provided for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and standards in every scenario.
- Welcome customers warmly and courteously.
- Deliver exceptional customer service aligned with Safeway's service programs.
- Stock various produce items and related products, including frozen, perishable, and non-perishable goods, across shelves.
- Create and maintain attractive merchandise displays following Safeway program guidelines.
- Perform product rotation to ensure freshness and compliance.
- Load and unload stock to maintain sales floor inventory levels.
- Manage backroom inventory and organization effectively.
- Assist with cash register operations during busy periods as a relief cashier.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Store Manager.
Candidate Requirements
- No previous experience is necessary; training will be provided.
- Quick learning capability.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and works well within a team.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Committed to working safely and responsibly.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must be available for scheduling on Sundays (specific to Alberta).
Physical Demands
- Consistently lift items weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Frequent reaching and gripping motions throughout shifts.
- Regularly bend, walk, stand, twist, push, or pull during work activities.
- Occasionally lift heavier items ranging from 20 to 50 pounds.
- Infrequent use of computers and point-of-sale systems.
- Occasional crouching, kneeling, and squatting as necessary.
