Job description
Role Overview
This position involves managing bi-weekly payroll processes across multiple states, ensuring tax compliance and accuracy within a Workday environment. The candidate will provide support and coaching to internal employees and managers regarding payroll procedures and systems.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute payroll processing every two weeks for employees in a multi-state setup.
- Perform necessary payroll corrections and tax-related adjustments.
- Keep Workday tax tables current and accurate.
- Address payroll queries from staff and supervisory personnel.
- Offer customer service to employees, treating them as customers within the organization.
- Guide managers by clarifying payroll terminology, Workday system navigation, and frequently asked questions.
- Produce routine payroll-related reports on a scheduled basis.
- Participate in special projects relating to payroll as assigned.
- Carry out repetitive, routine payroll tasks as part of a small team.
Essential Qualifications
- Possession of payroll credentials: at minimum, Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC); Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing payroll across all 50 U.S. states.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with diverse state and local tax systems.
- Practical experience with Workday payroll system, including tax table updates and tax adjustment processing.
- Strong capability to independently research and resolve tax issues using resources such as Bloomberg Tax and local/state tax guides.
Preferred but Not Mandatory Qualifications
- Familiarity with TopLoc or comparable tax and payroll configuration software.
- Experience participating in payroll system remediation or cleanup projects.
- Background in supporting payroll system stabilization following implementation phases.
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is an advantage if CPP certification is not held.
