Role overview
The position is for an experienced Payroll Officer who can handle complete payroll processing accurately and in line with Australian payroll laws and company policies. You will partner closely with Finance and HR, helping keep payroll records correct, supporting employees, and contributing to ongoing process enhancements.
Key duties
- Run full-cycle Australian payroll, including onboarding new employees, processing exits, managing pay changes, and handling payroll adjustments.
- Keep payroll and HR information accurate and compliant through careful record maintenance.
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and reports, and assist with month-end and year-end tasks.
- Respond to payroll questions and provide helpful support to employees and internal stakeholders.
- Spot opportunities to streamline payroll procedures and strengthen data accuracy.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is proactive, meticulous, and comfortable working in a busy environment. You should be organised, precise, and committed to delivering payroll outcomes that employees and stakeholders can rely on.
Experience and technical knowledge
Applicants should have at least two years of hands-on end-to-end Australian payroll experience. A solid understanding of Australian payroll legislation is required, along with working knowledge of PAYG, superannuation, and leave entitlements. Experience in a medium to large organisation is also expected. You should be confident using payroll software and have intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Additional strengths
Strong written and verbal communication, good organisation, sound problem-solving ability, and a collaborative mindset are important for this role. A commitment to continuous improvement is also valued.
