Position Overview

As a Stockperson / Cartpusher, you play an essential role in ensuring a secure, tidy, and welcoming shopping environment for customers. You are tasked with retrieving shopping carts from various store areas like cart corrals, parking lots, and store perimeter, and returning them safely to designated storage locations following official procedures. This role emphasizes safety and customer service, contributing to smooth store functions while fostering valuable skills in retail operations, teamwork, and customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect shopping carts from different store areas and return them using approved methods, accurately completing necessary logs.
• Promptly assist customer service and registers by helping customers with carrying items and verifying proofs of purchase when requested.
• Carry out routine cleaning and maintenance tasks, including restroom upkeep, following guidelines on chemical handling, disposal, and equipment safety.
• Comply strictly with safety and emergency protocols, such as hazardous communication and lockout/tagout procedures, to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
• Wear required personal protective equipment like steel-toed shoes and reflective vests, perform safety sweeps, and adhere to company policies to promote a hazard-free workplace.
• Maintain flexibility by working a range of shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands efficiently.

Challenges

• Handle a high-volume workload efficiently in a fast-paced setting, particularly during overnight shifts, by planning and managing energy effectively.
• Perform physically demanding activities such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Carry out repetitive tasks like stocking and organizing with attention to detail to uphold store standards consistently.

Compensation

The minimum hourly wage for this role begins at $16.05 CAD.
