Outside Catering Captain

Job Summary

The Outside Catering Captain serves as a key liaison to ensure smooth and flawless banquet and event services. Responsibilities involve coordinating with chefs and stewards to meet service needs, managing table setups, and confirming guest satisfaction throughout functions. Ensuring cleanliness, presentation, and proper arrangement of banquet rooms, restaurants, and coffee breaks is a fundamental part of the role.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate service requirements with chefs and stewards during events.
• Calculate total charges for group functions and prepare payment checks for group contacts.
• Ensure banquet and event spaces, including coffee break areas, are fully prepared and visually appealing.
• Confirm the correct placement of centerpieces on each table.
• Conduct inspections on the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glassware, and silverware prior to service.
• Regularly check in with guests to ensure their satisfaction and promptly address any needs.
• Set tables in accordance with event type and service standards.
• Communicate special meal requests, allergy information, and dietary needs to kitchen staff clearly.
• Maintain neatness and cleanliness in work areas throughout the day.
• Adhere to company safety and security procedures, immediately reporting any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions to management.
• Complete all required safety training and certification programs.
• Maintain professional, clean personal appearance and uniform, while respecting confidentiality of company information and assets.
• Welcome guests warmly and engage with them professionally using clear communication and appropriate telephone etiquette.
• Cultivate positive working relationships within the team, supporting collective goals and responding attentively to coworkers' concerns.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and service expectations.
• Perform physical tasks such as moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling objects up to 25 pounds without help and stand, sit or walk for extended periods.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• A minimum of two years' relevant experience in a similar role is necessary.
• At least one year of prior supervisory experience is preferred.
• No specific licenses or certifications are required for this role.
