Job description

Role Overview

The Orthopedic Surgery Registrar is responsible for diagnosing and treating injuries or diseases by examining patients, taking detailed medical histories, prescribing medications, and ordering as well as interpreting necessary diagnostic tests. The role extends to advising patients on diet, hygiene, and preventative healthcare measures tailored to their individual medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and document clinical findings.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Inform and educate patients about their medical condition, necessary investigations, treatment options, and proper use of prescribed medications.
  • Advise on health promotion and disease prevention strategies.
  • Order diagnostic tests and analyze the results effectively.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications in accordance with medical protocols.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient medical records.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, strategic plans, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Commit to the mission, vision, and practice standards of Nahdi Care Clinics.
  • Participate actively in NCC committees, task forces, and quality improvement programs.
  • Adhere to the CBAHI standards of care and relevant clinical governance.
  • Develop productive working relationships across departments, external agencies, vendors, patients, and families.
  • Fulfill fire safety requirements and maintain adherence to departmental attendance and structure standards.
  • Support continuous professional development of junior medical staff through educational activities like rounds, conferences, lectures, and journal clubs.
  • Incorporate evidence-based approaches and consider population-specific factors, including heritage, environment, and disease prevalence in patient care.

Specialty-Related Duties

  • Exercise specific clinical privileges aligned with qualifications, experience, and the Saudi Health Council guidelines.
  • Perform specialty-specific tasks within the scope of clinical privileges granted.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor work environment exclusively.
  • 6 working days per week with 1 day off.
  • 8 net working hours scheduled by the head of department.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Medicine and Surgery from accredited institutions.
  • Master's degree in Orthopedic Surgery or related specialty from recognized universities, or an approved Fellowship by SCFHS.

Experience and Licensing

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience post-Master’s degree or eligibility to take the board examination in orthopedics.
  • Registrar license in the relevant specialty from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS).

Additional Competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Health Information Systems.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic, in spoken and written forms.
