Network Design Engineer

Overview

This role focuses on comprehensive network design in telecommunications, specializing in data networking and optical technologies such as DWDM. The candidate will be responsible for planning, designing, and maintaining detailed physical and logical network inventories while collaborating with multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and validate field survey data and high-level plans prepared by planners.
• Create detailed Low-Level Designs within Physical Network Inventory (PNI) systems.
• Perform capacity assessments and reserve physical network infrastructure components in PNI.
• Prepare detailed construction documentation including design briefs, splicing and termination plans, bills of materials, straight line diagrams, and issue work packages.
• Provide design clarifications and support to construction partners as required.
• Document as-built network changes and incorporate field design modifications into the PNI systems.
• Maintain accuracy and data integrity of network changes across physical and logical network inventories.
• Coordinate regularly with internal and external stakeholders such as planning leads, project managers, supply chain teams, and others to resolve design-related queries promptly.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in telecom network planning working with major telecommunications operators globally.
• Thorough understanding of end-to-end telecom network solutions and services.
• Expertise in designing architectures for various network technologies including HFC, RFoG, XPON, and transport networks such as SDH, DWDM, and CWDM.
• Proficient in using industry-standard physical network inventory tools.
• Experience with CAD-based design software and familiarity with geospatial information systems.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and technical documentation capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Physical Network Inventory (PNI) systems and GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, Netinfo, AND, CableScout, and Netcracker.
• Background working in Agile/SAFe environments or other structured business processes within engineering teams.
