Role Overview

This role seeks a medically knowledgeable professional to lead therapeutic area strategies, spearhead evidence generation, and promote meaningful outcomes for patients in New Zealand. The successful candidate will translate clinical research into actionable insights and build strategic relationships with clinical and research leaders nationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep updated with disease states, treatment options, patient experiences, and health system dynamics.
  • Analyze new clinical data and evidence to support informed scientific discussions.
  • Contribute scientific expertise to interdisciplinary teams.
  • Formulate medical plans using evidence, market insights, and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure coordinated execution of initiatives.
  • Anticipate and incorporate upcoming scientific and healthcare system changes into planning.
  • Represent medical affairs in branding, product launches, and lifecycle management meetings.
  • Manage therapy area medical budgets aligning with organizational financial plans and medical strategies.
  • Lead insight gathering from field personnel, external experts, and clinical trends, using digital tools where relevant.
  • Identify and address evidence gaps influencing patient care, access, and treatment uptake.
  • Lead or support local evidence generation projects including real-world evidence, registries, and phase IV studies.
  • Communicate evidence interpretations and their clinical implications clearly.
  • Incorporate patient perspectives and lived experiences into strategic development.
  • Engage with patient organizations to uncover unmet needs and remove barriers to care.
  • Support initiatives that enhance patient education, optimize treatment pathways, and improve care quality.
  • Educate internal teams about patient journeys and treatment decision factors.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clinicians, researchers, and medical societies.
  • Organize and conduct medical advisory boards and roundtable discussions.
  • Deliver scientific presentations and educational programs to healthcare professionals in various formats.
  • Ensure all scientific exchanges adhere to standards of balance, transparency, and compliance.
  • Assist in supporting scientific aspects of access, reimbursement, and health policy initiatives.
  • Review promotional and non-promotional materials for accuracy, objectivity, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Therapy Area Specialists to ensure consistent scientific communications.
  • Support approval workflows and ensure medical accuracy of content across communication channels.
  • Demonstrate ethical integrity and sound scientific judgment in all work outputs.
  • Develop and implement a medical omnichannel engagement strategy.
  • Utilize Content Authoring Tools such as eWizard to craft customer experience journeys aligned with medical strategies.
  • Apply dashboards, analytics, and medical information systems to enhance strategy and insight generation.
  • Stay informed on advancements in digital health, AI, and related technologies.
  • Create eWizard-based materials and digital content to support scientific exchange programs.
  • Report any adverse events within 24 hours according to company policy.
  • Participate actively in workplace health and safety programs and promote a safe work environment.
  • Comply with internal codes of conduct and organizational compliance standards.
  • Perform additional administrative and related duties as required.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • A degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, or a relevant field.
  • Previous experience in Medical Affairs, clinical research, or a comparable scientific role.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Pharmaceutical Medicine, Medical Affairs, Public Health, Clinical Research, Epidemiology, Health Economics, or Digital Health.
  • Proven experience supporting evidence generation efforts.
  • Proficiency in engaging external experts and health system partners.
  • Familiarity with medical systems and analytical platforms such as Veeva and integrated dashboards.

Performance Indicators

  • High quality, clear Therapeutic Area Medical Plans with strong cross-functional consensus.
  • Insightful analysis effectively translated into strategy and decision-making.
  • Contributions to evidence generation and quality use of medicines outcomes.
  • Strong external scientific relationships and credibility demonstrated through field engagement.
  • Timely, accurate, and compliant governance of medical materials.
  • Support and development of Medical Affairs capabilities and organizational learning.

Work Flexibility
