Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Solutions Architecture (Pre-Sales) for Asia leads a distributed team of Solutions Architects across South East Asia, Taiwan, and South Korea. This dual role involves coaching and direct contribution to strategic sales initiatives, helping secure technical successes and fostering customer trust in GitLab’s platform solutions. The role requires balancing technical sales strategy, team leadership, and operational scalability, aligning customer requirements with measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a team of intermediate and senior Solutions Architects in the Asia region, setting clear goals and ensuring effective execution.
- Engage directly in strategic opportunities as a player-coach, developing executive relationships and guiding the team through complex sales cycles to achieve technical wins.
- Shape regional strategies for technical assessments, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concept engagements, translating customer needs into impactful technical and business results.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with global Solutions Architecture, Sales, Channel, Marketing, Sales Enablement, and Product Management teams to synchronize priorities and execute regional plans.
- Manage indirect relationships with Channel Solutions Architects and subject matter experts, fostering accountability and alignment with shared objectives.
- Maintain operational discipline by planning workloads, allocating resources, forecasting opportunities, and overseeing field execution.
- Define, monitor, and communicate key performance indicators and project status to team members, peers, and senior stakeholders.
- Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing Solutions Architects, promote innovation, and build scalable regional structures for growth.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience managing technical teams within software or technology sales, pre-sales, or consulting environments, especially within South East Asia, Taiwan, and South Korea.
- Strong foundation in solution architecture or equivalent hands-on experience, capable of connecting technical depth to business value and adapting knowledge from related fields while mastering GitLab’s platform.
- Track record of building, mentoring, and scaling Solutions Architecture or similar customer-facing technical teams in expanding organizations.
- Excellent communication and technical presentation skills, adept at engaging diverse cultures and both technical and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated business insight and sound judgment, balancing technical rigor with commercial priorities and regional strategic goals.
- Skill in influencing cross-functional teams and building productive partnerships across Sales, Channel, Marketing, Enablement, Product, and other senior stakeholders.
- Experience creating inclusive, high-performing teams and establishing clear, accountable operating practices in distributed or remote settings.
- Willingness and ability to travel according to business demands and company travel policies.
