Role Overview

The Lead Project Management Engineer will be responsible for delivering client-side services within Ireland's Water Sector. This role entails managing major projects with particular focus on project scope, budget control, timeline adherence, and risk management as part of the Supply Demand Balance programme.

Primary Responsibilities

• Supervise and track project progress considering schedule, interfaces, cost variations, contracts, and risks, coordinating with respective team members and departments.
• Create and maintain the Project Execution Plan to ensure compliance with the standards and methods of the Contracting Entity.
• Lead project coordination efforts across all stages, identifying and resolving interface-related issues.
• Work closely with technical teams to manage design consultants and external service providers effectively.
• Engage in consultations with stakeholders.
• Provide monthly reporting covering project tasks throughout its lifecycle including construction phases.
• Maintain and update the project risk register regularly for progress meetings.
• Identify and recommend improvements to project management procedures, templates, and tools to management.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Manage client procurement activities.
• Thoroughly review contractors’ design submissions and deliverables.
• Oversee contract administration and project delivery requirements.

Key Qualifications and Experience

• More than 15 years of experience in the construction or infrastructure sectors, managing projects with comparable size and complexity.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or a related discipline.
• Project management certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are advantageous.
• Sound knowledge and experience of Health & Safety legislation and regulations.
• A solid background in project management methodologies and water engineering technical expertise.
• Proficient in contract administration and delivery.
• Ability to implement ongoing processes for data collection and review.
• Experience working on-site in addition to office-based duties is an advantage.
• Proven success in delivering projects on schedule and within budget.
• Experience acting as a client-side project manager and managing diverse stakeholders effectively.
• Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Competent in governing projects to meet specified standards and achieve desired outcomes.
• Planning skills including experience with Oracle Primavera P6 scheduling software is beneficial.
• Strong report writing capabilities and computer literacy.
