Team Overview

The Data department based in Bangkok manages all data-related requirements for Agoda. Their mission is to promote data usage company-wide through creative solutions and implementing powerful resources like operational and analytical databases, queue systems, BI tools, and data science technologies. They employ top talents worldwide and provide continuous learning to foster growth and a diverse, experimental culture. The team supports decision making for business users, product managers, and engineers, enhances customer search experiences, and safeguards against fraud. With large-scale data, the department faces both challenges and rewarding opportunities daily.

Position Overview

The role, based in Bangkok, offers an exciting opportunity for data scientists to work on highly demanding machine learning and big data platforms dealing with over 600 billion daily events and 5 billion predictions. As part of the Data Science and Machine Learning team, you will tackle real-world challenges such as dynamic pricing, real-time customer intent predictions, ranking to boost lifetime value, deep learning with unstructured data like images and text, personalized recommendations, algorithm-driven promotions, partner product innovations, big data insights, and user experience improvements. You'll have access to one of the world’s largest ML infrastructures, including dozens of GPUs in parallel, over 30,000 CPU cores, and 150TB memory.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy models and algorithms enhancing customer satisfaction, supplier value, business results, and readiness of infrastructure.
• Analyze extensive datasets comprising hundreds of millions of customers, daily user events, suppliers, and pricing data to extract actionable insights.
• Collaborate with developers and various business stakeholders to provide high-quality daily deliverables.
• Conduct research to discover and implement innovative ideas that impact the business.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience in data science.
• Strong proficiency in AI, machine learning, deep learning, and statistics, with hands-on coding using relevant open-source libraries and frameworks.
• Advanced skills in SQL and programming languages such as Python, PySpark, or Scala.
• Ability to lead projects, work independently, and contribute effectively within a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suited for a multicultural environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Operations Research, Statistics, or equivalent quantitative fields.
• Experience in natural language processing (NLP), image processing, or recommendation systems.
• Experience with data engineering and big data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop.
• Familiarity with e-commerce or online travel agency (OTA) data science applications.
