Role Overview

We are hiring a dependable and safety-conscious Yard/Landfill Operator to join our Moranbah facility. This permanent position works Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM, with occasional Saturdays. Responsibilities include operating plant and equipment, managing waste and recyclables, maintaining site cleanliness, and working safely within a small team.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate waste management machinery and equipment across the landfill and resource recovery site.
• Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance checks on operational plant and equipment.
• Process, sort, move, and dispose of waste in accordance with site management plans, environmental guidelines, and operational protocols.
• Maintain landfill cells, stormwater collection zones, yard orderliness, and overall site tidiness.
• Coordinate with weighbridge staff, supervisors, and team members to ensure smooth and safe site operations.
• Support waste management initiatives and continuous improvement processes.
• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental procedures and site policies at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• Relevant experience in waste management, civil operations, or a related operational environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate waste management equipment safely.
• Possession of relevant licences or tickets such as Heavy Rigid (HR) licence, excavator, loader, and/or compactor certifications (preferred).
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental sustainability, and compliance with site protocols.
• Detail-oriented with ability to work effectively within a small team.
• Capable of working safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Basic proficiency with smartphones, online reporting tools, and record-keeping applications.
• Possession of a current driver's licence and reliable transportation.
• Willingness and ability to pass pre-employment medical checks and participate in random drug and alcohol testing.
