Junior Interior & Visual Designer

Job Overview

The Junior Interior & Visual Designer contributes to the creation of innovative retail spaces, showroom concepts, and engaging customer experiences across Gardner White stores. This role merges interior design, visual communication, product presentation, and retail development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in designing retail showrooms and specialty store layouts.
• Conduct site visits, surveys, and assessments at store locations.
• Develop floor plans, space layouts, and furniture arrangements.
• Create SketchUp models along with presentation renderings.
• Support initiatives involving store remodels, new openings, and prototype developments.
• Design visual presentations using Canva, PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Produce concept boards, mood boards, and storytelling visuals.
• Translate design ideas into clear visuals for leadership and team members.
• Contribute to signage, environmental graphics, and in-store branding efforts.
• Prepare presentation materials that communicate design intent and customer experience strategies.
• Maintain fixture, furniture, finish, and signage specifications and documentation.
• Coordinate with vendors and assist in material sourcing.
• Support project timeline management, installations, and implementation planning.
• Research trends in home furnishings, fashion, retail, hospitality, and lifestyle for inspiration.
• Participate in innovation workshops and brainstorming sessions for new retail concepts.
• Monitor competitive market trends to generate fresh ideas for customer experience enhancements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Retail Design, Graphic Design, or related discipline.
• Between 1 and 3 years of professional or combined internship experience in design or related creative fields.
• Proficient in Canva and presentation creation tools.
• Experience using SketchUp and other rendering software.
• Strong skills in visual communication and storytelling.
• Excellent organizational and project management capabilities.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment with a keen eye for detail.
• Preferred: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), AutoCAD or Revit experience, retail/home furnishings/hospitality sector familiarity, understanding of design documentation and retail construction basics.

Working Conditions

• Role operates in retail office and store environments.
• Physical demands include occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Travel required as necessary.
• This is a full-time position with standard business hours but may require flexibility to meet business needs.
