Role overview
Angel Solutions is seeking a Junior Front-End Developer to join its expanding front-end team in Liverpool, or from the surrounding area. This position suits someone who is enthusiastic about building digital products, keen to keep learning, and excited to contribute to work that has a genuine real-world impact. You’ll be supported by the Front-End Team Leader and the wider team as you develop your skills.
Working arrangement
This is a hybrid full-time role. The successful candidate will be expected to work from the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and to attend business events, quarter days, and other important team days when required.
Compensation
The salary for this role is up to £25,000 to £30,000, depending on experience.
What you’ll do
You will contribute to existing products by helping deliver new features, enhancements, and ongoing improvements. The role involves working within established codebases, collaborating with others, and learning through practical development work and regular guidance.
- Develop and maintain front-end features for live customer-facing products.
- Improve, extend, and refactor existing codebases.
- Translate design files into accurate, functional interfaces using modern HTML and CSS.
- Support Vue-based applications under the direction of senior team members.
- Create and maintain reusable components, including using Storybook where relevant.
- Investigate and fix bugs while supporting product updates.
- Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and planning meetings.
- Work to agreed front-end standards, patterns, and best practices.
- Coordinate with designers, testers, and other developers as needed.
- Build knowledge through hands-on delivery and team feedback.
Essential experience and knowledge
- Between 1 and 2 years of practical front-end development experience.
- Hands-on experience creating user interfaces with HTML and CSS.
- Basic understanding of JavaScript and its use in front-end work.
- Some exposure to a modern JavaScript framework, preferably Vue.
- Understanding of component-based development.
- Experience using Git for version control.
- Ability to work from design assets and turn them into working interfaces.
- Basic awareness of responsive design and accessibility principles.
Desirable experience
- Exposure to Vue 2 and/or Vue 3.
- Familiarity with Storybook or other component-driven development approaches.
- Experience with SASS or similar CSS pre-processors.
- Experience working in larger or already established codebases.
- Background in bug fixing or refactoring existing code.
- Awareness of front-end performance and best-practice considerations.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma.
- A portfolio, GitHub profile, or examples of work that can be shared.
- Exposure to agile working practices and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Slack.
- Comfort using AI-assisted tools for learning, problem-solving, and daily development while still understanding the code underneath.
