Role overview
An established family-run SME in Alton, Hampshire is seeking an IT & Systems Administrator to take ownership of its technology environment. This is a varied, practical position where you will handle daily user support, administer Microsoft 365, manage hardware purchasing and deployment, coordinate with vendors, and oversee the IT budget. You will act as the main technology contact for the business, partnering with an external IT provider and supporting teams across Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
Day-to-day support and hardware
- Handle incoming user issues, diagnose problems, and resolve them where possible, escalating to the external support partner or other suppliers when needed.
- Manage the joiner and leaver process, including account setup and removal, equipment issue/return, and licence recovery.
- Choose, buy, prepare, and roll out laptops, phones, and accessories, while also supporting AV equipment, printers, and shared devices.
- Keep reliable records for IT equipment, warranty details, and who has been assigned each item.
Microsoft 365 administration
- Administer users, groups, licences, and access within Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams.
- Manage company devices through Intune, including compliance settings, deployments, and configuration changes.
- Maintain core security controls such as MFA, conditional access, device hygiene, and monitoring.
- Support SharePoint organisation, permissions, and document handling, while helping colleagues adopt M365 and Copilot.
Other business systems
- Support Dynamics 365 Business Central through user administration, password resets, basic permissions, and ticket management with Dynamics Square.
- Make basic theme changes on Shopify, upload products, troubleshoot issues, and assist with integrations.
- Provide technical support and access/licence help for HubSpot when the Marketing team escalates issues.
Budget and vendor management
- Take responsibility for the IT budget, monitoring spend, managing renewals, and approving purchases within agreed limits.
- Maintain relationships with the external IT provider, hardware vendors, telecom suppliers, and SaaS partners.
- Track licences, contracts, and renewal dates carefully, and identify opportunities to consolidate or renegotiate where sensible.
