The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this position acts as the operational lead for the IT team. It is a true second-in-command role, with responsibility for day-to-day decisions, oversight of managed service and security partners, and control of cost, service quality, and delivery pace across the IT roadmap.

The role also involves taking over leadership of a major digital transformation initiative as it moves from external support to internal ownership. This is an active leadership handover with substantial scope, stakeholders, and deadlines.

This position is suited to an experienced IT leader who is comfortable operating in a hands-on, operational seat, making independent calls, challenging suppliers, and driving outcomes without close supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the managed service provider relationship, ensuring delivery against SLAs, good-practice standards, and cost expectations without requiring CIO escalation.
• Oversee the security operations centre partnership, pushing for ongoing improvements and consistent SLA performance.
• Manage IT vendors and software licences, including driving licence consolidation and savings.
• Own the IT program of work, including sprint planning, prioritisation, delivery timelines, and risk control.
• Take responsibility for the digital transformation program as it is brought in-house.
• Act as a key escalation point for the IT team and support the CIO by taking on operational leadership.
• Drive continual service improvement using ITIL practices across incident, problem, change, and request management.

What You Bring

You should have prior experience managing an IT function or team and a clear understanding of strong operational practice. You need a proven record of holding managed-service providers accountable, not just tracking performance, along with delivering savings through vendor and licensing arrangements.

A solid ITIL foundation, disciplined execution, and a commercially aware approach to IT spend are important. You must also be a confident decision-maker who can act without needing CIO approval in the room, challenge vendors and senior stakeholders, and follow through until actions are completed.

Experience owning or running a program of work with strong stakeholder and risk management is essential. Background in construction or infrastructure, along with exposure to digital transformation or ERP programs, will be viewed favourably.

Strong experience with AI is required. BildGroup is an AI-forward organisation, so demonstrated capability with AI tools, models, vendors, and practical use cases is essential.
