Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Officer to assist in the sustainment and ongoing management of an essential Defence communications capability. This position is ideal for logistics professionals with backgrounds in Defence sustainment, fleet, and asset management.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help manage logistics support functions, maintain inventory and fleet assets, and support capability readiness and operational objectives. You will interact with a wide range of Defence and industry stakeholders, offering guidance, performing analysis, and facilitating logistics and sustainment efforts within a complex Defence project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support logistics management activities dedicated to sustaining complex Defence capabilities.
  • Carry out logistics, inventory, and fleet management to ensure desired operational results.
  • Assist in reviewing, developing, and continuously enhancing logistics policies, procedures, and methods.
  • Conduct detailed research, analysis, and assessments to aid logistics planning and asset management.
  • Provide informed advice regarding logistics policies, regulatory requirements, and governance mechanisms.
  • Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with Defence, industry, and project partners.
  • Contribute to capability sustainment through data analysis, reporting, and documentation processes.
  • Identify challenges affecting logistics, asset management, and program success and develop practical solutions.
  • Participate in team planning, workflow coordination, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Defence regulatory, policy, and legislative standards.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in Integrated Logistics Support, logistics, fleet, or asset management roles.
  • Familiarity with Defence or similar complex technical environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of logistics governance, sustainment processes, and asset management principles.
  • Practical experience with Defence logistics or enterprise systems such as MILIS, SAP, or equivalent ERP platforms.
  • Capable of preparing reports, conducting analyses, and providing logistics advice for decision-making support.
  • Experience in sustaining communications, ICT, electronics, or technical equipment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Defence supply chain, inventory management, and lifecycle processes will be advantageous.
  • Relevant Defence SAP training, logistics qualifications, or industry certifications preferred.

  • Work location: Melbourne, with approximately three onsite days per week.
