Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician

About the Role

We are inviting applications for an Instrumentation & Monitoring Technician to join our team. This role involves hands-on work installing, calibrating, and upkeeping geotechnical and structural monitoring instruments on various major infrastructure projects. The position mainly requires fieldwork across both urban and rural settings and offers the chance to work with innovative technology and gain diverse project experience throughout New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in installing and calibrating geotechnical and structural measurement devices.
• Perform routine inspections, troubleshoot, and maintain monitoring systems to ensure functionality.
• Support the transportation and setup/teardown of equipment across different site locations.
• Collect data and perform initial configuration for data loggers and acquisition hardware.
• Keep detailed records of installation, calibration, and maintenance activities performed.
• Contribute to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of IoT-enabled monitoring data platforms.
• Follow all health and safety guidelines, promptly reporting any incidents or hazards.
• Collaborate closely with project teams to ensure monitoring meets project requirements and timelines.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is inquisitive, practical, and motivated to learn, with a passion for outdoor work and problem-solving technical challenges.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or certificate in civil engineering, mechatronics, instrumentation technology, surveying, earth sciences, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of sensors, data loggers, and monitoring systems.
• Comfortable using manual tools and working in diverse environmental conditions.
• Possess a full driver's licence and prioritize health and safety.
• Previous exposure to construction or monitoring work is advantageous but not mandatory as training will be provided.
