HVAC Engineer (O&M)

Role overview

The university is seeking an HVAC Engineer focused on operations and maintenance to keep campus air-conditioning and related utility systems running reliably and comfortably. The position centers on ensuring suitable indoor conditions across facilities, including support for fan operations and chilled water supply for workspaces and residences.

Experience and qualification

This role requires at least 12 years of hands-on experience in HVAC operations and maintenance. Applicants should hold a Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

Scope of work

The engineer will oversee HVAC upkeep across campus facilities, with a strong emphasis on performance, responsiveness, and continuity of service. The target indoor temperature across campus areas is 23°C to 25°C.

Key responsibilities

• Work with vendors on annual maintenance contracts, support for breakdowns, and installation of equipment.
• Plan and carry out preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance programs to keep HVAC systems operating efficiently.
• Handle occupant complaints related to HVAC and close them within the expected turnaround time.
• Keep accurate operating records for chiller plants and arrange servicing or corrective action when required.
• Make sure all fixed HVAC installations, other than those in student hostels, continue to run at their intended capacity and receive regular servicing.
• Ensure essential spare parts are available so downtime remains minimal.
• Track and review performance data for critical HVAC assets to maintain strong output.
• Train ground-level staff on the correct use and upkeep of HVAC equipment.
• Prepare and process invoices, BOQs, indent requests, and site measurement documentation.
• Initially manage technical services in hostels, including electrical, plumbing, civil, and carpentry work, and later concentrate only on hostel HVAC systems.
• Carry out preventive maintenance for FCUs and AHUs in Student Hostels 11, 12, and 14.
• Ensure service complaints are resolved within SLA deadlines.
• Confirm materials are available on time and review staff attendance and performance.

Additional information

The role includes responsibility for maintaining indoor comfort across campus facilities and supporting air-conditioning infrastructure through chilled water supply and fan operation management. Hostel-related responsibilities begin broadly across multiple technical services and later narrow to hostel HVAC systems only.
