Role Overview

The HR Generalist is a key player within Airbnb’s Employee Experience (EX) framework, serving as the driving force behind delivering timely, accurate, and quality HR services throughout the employee lifecycle across the Americas region. This role advocates for efficient HR practices aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with Business Talent teams to implement EX and people strategies for specific business units, acting as the primary HR advisor and problem solver for employee-related issues.
Develop a comprehensive understanding of the business’s strategies and operational roadmaps to better support HR alignment.
Engage in function-specific projects with Business Talent teams to enhance organizational outcomes.
Manage employee concerns by analyzing and devising effective solutions, partnering with Employee Experience specialists when necessary.
Coach and advise managers and employees to improve their capabilities and organizational effectiveness as the business grows.
Promote awareness and use of EX self-service resources, empowering employees and managers to resolve queries independently.
Work with Centers of Expertise (COEs) to coordinate and support ongoing programs like performance management, compensation reviews, talent evaluations, and employee engagement surveys while providing constructive feedback for program refinement.
Maintain compliance and collaborate with Legal, Total Rewards, and Talent Operations teams to ensure holistic HR service delivery.
Identify organizational trends and provide insights for proactive planning and risk mitigation.
Track and analyze key HR metrics to monitor performance and impact.
Ensure accurate maintenance of HR information systems, primarily Workday.
Champion Airbnb’s core values and foster diversity and inclusion throughout the organization.

Qualifications and Expertise

Minimum of 8 years progressive HR experience in fast-paced, growing global companies.
Comprehensive knowledge and hands-on expertise across at least four HR disciplines such as HR Business Partnering, Compensation, Recruiting, Employee Relations, Talent Management.
Deep understanding of core HR functions including HR Operations, Benefits, Recruitment, and Organization Development.
Strong business acumen with the ability to connect business strategies to HR initiatives across diverse teams.
Demonstrated ability to balance strategic big-picture perspective with detailed execution.
Proven problem-solving skills, capable of analyzing complex situations and delivering high-quality results.
Exceptional investigative skills for handling sensitive employee-related issues.
Ability to assess situations critically to foster optimal outcomes.
Use data effectively—headcount planning, attrition, employee feedback—to influence leadership decisions.
Influence and collaborate effectively with managers and leaders across various levels.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities, skilled at distilling complex issues and aligning stakeholders.
Self-motivated and adept in cross-functional teamwork across regions and functions.
Eagerness to learn, curiosity-driven, and enjoys solving complex problems creatively.
Relevant Bachelor’s degree in HR-related fields mandatory; Master’s degree preferred focusing on Organizational Behavior, Employment Law, Compensation, Statistics, Business, or similar disciplines.
Familiar with Google Suite for data analytics and visualization.
Experience with Workday highly favored.
Knowledge of AI tools for work management is a plus.
Passion for travel and the travel industry.
Deep commitment to client experience, both internal and external customers.
Enjoys contributing positively and having fun while working meaningfully with colleagues and clients.

Work Location & Travel

This position is remote within the United States but requires residing in states where Airbnb has a registered entity. Occasional in-person attendance at Airbnb offices or offsites may be necessary, subject to managerial agreement. The list of eligible states is regularly updated.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this role is $157,000 to $185,000 per year, plus potential eligibility for bonuses, equity, benefits, and employee travel credits. Pay is influenced by factors including experience, skills, and business needs.
