Role Overview
The Head of Learning and Development (L&D) is tasked with shaping the organization's learning vision through strategic planning and execution. This position focuses on building a future-ready workforce by enhancing employee capabilities, leadership skills, and overall organizational effectiveness through innovative and continuous learning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an all-encompassing Learning & Development strategy aligned with organizational goals and workforce planning.
- Create and nurture a culture that encourages ongoing personal and professional growth, knowledge exchange, and career development.
- Collaborate with senior management to identify gaps in skills and plan for future talent needs.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Learning & Development team to promote exceptional performance and ongoing enhancement.
- Design and oversee leadership development programs tailored for emerging, mid-level, and senior leaders to support succession planning.
- Develop competency frameworks and career pathways across different functions to foster employee growth.
- Manage mentoring, coaching, and high-potential employee programs to build talent pipelines.
- Perform organizational training needs assessments to establish priorities for learning initiatives.
- Plan, source, and deliver diverse learning solutions including in-person, virtual, blended, and digital formats.
- Measure the effectiveness of learning programs by analyzing learning outcomes, business impacts, and return on investment.
- Keep learning materials current, relevant, engaging, and aligned with industry leading practices.
- Promote the adoption of advanced learning technology such as microlearning modules, AI-based tools, and social learning frameworks.
- Develop scalable digital learning strategies that accommodate a globally dispersed workforce.
- Work closely with HR partners, functional leaders, and external providers to implement and optimize learning programs.
- Advise company executives and managers on workforce capabilities and organizational growth.
- Forge strategic partnerships with educational institutions, training providers, and professional bodies.
- Establish and maintain the annual L&D budget while ensuring efficient spend and resource allocation.
- Implement governance, policies, and compliance standards for all L&D activities.
- Ensure all mandated and regulatory trainings are completed and up to date.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Psychology, Education, or related disciplines.
- Master’s degree is advantageous.
- Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in Learning & Development, Talent Management, or Organizational Development roles.
- Proven track record in crafting organization-wide learning and leadership development strategies.
- Experience selecting and implementing Learning Management Systems (LMS) and relevant learning technologies.
- Prior exposure to multi-site or multinational organizational contexts is preferred.
