General Merchandise Team Lead

About the Role

This position assists with managing various aspects of General Merchandise operations, including leading departmental processes, addressing inquiries, and training team members. The role emphasizes delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring operational tasks are completed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by courteously welcoming customers, helping them with product inquiries, assisting in locating items, guiding purchase decisions, and resolving issues or escalating them appropriately.
• Provide guidance and coordinate task execution according to priorities set by the General Merchandise Coach and Store Management; delegate and follow up on daily Customer Availability duties.
• Evaluate the overall look and upkeep of General Merchandise areas, identifying and correcting presentation shortcomings and updating merchandising displays as necessary.
• Maintain open communication with associates; lead daily team meetings at shift start to share updates, establish objectives, and monitor performance.
• Coordinate staffing with the People Lead, reviewing schedules and deploying associates across store areas to ensure proper coverage and task completion.
• Conduct walkthroughs with the Coach and associates to identify training needs; develop team members through instruction and constructive feedback.
• Promote a safe and clean work environment by adhering to company policies, completing safety inspections, and securing fixtures and displays.
• Complete jobs related to GTA/Workday systems and support overall management functions.
• Collaborate with Coach/People Lead to manage associate performance and growth discussions, and assist in recruitment and hiring efforts.

Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
