Role Overview
The General Helper role is an important support position within the culinary team. This kitchen support job involves working different shifts across the day and helping keep operations moving efficiently. Depending on the schedule, the role may include split shifts, early mornings, late nights, and overnight work. This posting is for a candidate pool for future openings, and applications will be considered continuously as roles open up.
Key Duties
- Help maintain a consistently safe workplace.
- Follow COVID-related safety measures, including hand hygiene, PPE usage, and stronger cleaning and sanitation routines.
- Deliver reliable and positive service to guests using KDR facilities.
- Keep the workstation neat and organized during the shift.
- Clean and support daily upkeep across the KDR complex, including lunchrooms, dining areas, the servery, dish area, main kitchen, and storage spaces.
- Clean and sanitize surfaces, counters, tables, chairs, and equipment as needed.
- Carry out routine cleaning and disinfection of high-touch areas and items in line with COVID protocols.
- Sweep and mop floors throughout the KDR, including walk-in coolers and storage rooms.
- Restock food, beverage, and paper/disposable supplies as required.
- Remove garbage, cardboard, and recyclables.
- Handle dishwashing and related ware-wash duties.
- Move used flatware and cutlery to the wash area.
- Wash dishes, cutlery, pots, and similar items.
- Return cleaned items to their proper storage locations.
- Complete HACCP records when required.
- Check that service items are labeled, dated, and rotated correctly.
- Carry out scheduled weekly and monthly cleaning tasks.
- Support food production tasks when needed.
- Receive and store food, beverage, chemical, and disposable supplies as directed by production staff.
- Take on other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have experience in large-scale kitchen support work in camp environments, banquet halls, or hotels, though this is considered an advantage rather than a strict requirement. A current Food Safe certificate is also beneficial. The role requires the ability to work a 3-weeks-on and 3-weeks-off rotation and to handle several tasks at once while organizing work effectively. Candidates must be able to pass drug and alcohol screening, a health assessment, and a criminal background check. A valid government-issued photo ID is needed for travel to site.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, carry, push, or pull loads of up to 50 lbs.
- Climb ladders or stairs.
- Stand, walk, squat, kneel, or sit for long periods depending on the task.
- Perform repetitive hand movements using both hands fully.
- Work with arms extended fully.
- Work with arms above shoulder level.
Additional Information
This opportunity offers a 3-weeks-on / 3-weeks-off rotation, supporting strong work-life balance. The role is based in remote locations and may require air travel to site or ground transport on a shuttle. Work may include nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Pay is hourly, with a starting rate of $19.75 per hour.
