About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Game Tools & Modding Engineer to join a remote team focused on creating high-performance, real-time applications. This role encompasses developing graphics systems, rendering pipelines, and optimizing low-level engine features using technologies such as DirectX (DX11/12), Vulkan, and OpenGL.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement game systems and engine features using C++ and game engines.
- Create and maintain tools and modding support for games.
- Develop and optimize rendering pipelines, shaders, and real-time graphics components.
- Enhance performance for CPU, GPU, memory, and rendering tasks.
- Build and extend tools, pipelines, and engine frameworks to facilitate game development.
- Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and engineering peers to deliver quality user experiences.
- Troubleshoot complex challenges related to rendering, performance, and multi-platform compatibility.
- Write well-structured, maintainable, and documented code.
- Engage in code reviews and contribute to technical decisions.
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 6 years of experience in game development or real-time graphics programming.
- Advanced C++ programming skills.
- Proficient with one or more graphics APIs such as DirectX (DX11/12), Vulkan, OpenGL, or Metal.
- In-depth knowledge of rendering pipelines and shader programming (HLSL/GLSL).
- Strong grasp of 3D mathematics and real-time graphics principles.
- Experience with game engines like Unreal Engine or equivalent.
- Expertise in performance optimization targeting CPU, GPU, memory, and multithreading.
- Strong analytical and debugging capabilities.
- Capability to work autonomously in a distributed remote team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in engine customization and low-level system development.
- Experience with graphics profiling tools such as RenderDoc, PIX, or Nsight.
- Understanding of cross-platform development and constraints.
- Familiarity with tooling, pipelines, and editor customizations.
- Knowledge of multiplayer systems or large-scale architecture.
