Financial Controller (Contract)

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Financial Controller to oversee all accounting operations and financial reporting for a dynamic company in the real estate and construction sector. This is a full-time, remote contract position based in Egypt, reporting directly to the CFO. The role focuses on transitioning the accounting function from outsourcing to an entirely internal department, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability of financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the General Ledger with full responsibility, ensuring its correctness and adherence to standards.
• Oversee the Chart of Accounts and lead the migration from outsourced accounting services to an in-house team.
• Conduct monthly closing procedures, reconciliations, and maintain financial accuracy.
• Produce monthly financial statements and management reports showcasing business unit performance.
• Supervise Accounts Payable and Receivable activities including invoice, payroll, expense, and vendor payment reviews.
• Maintain cash flow monitoring, execute bank reconciliations, and coordinate related tax reporting.
• Ensure all accounting practices comply with internal policies and financial controls while safeguarding confidentiality of sensitive data.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the bookkeeping team.

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant with comprehensive ownership of the General Ledger.
• Proven track record in month-end closing and financial reporting processes.
• Hands-on expertise with QuickBooks accounting software.
• Experience supervising accounting or bookkeeping personnel.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial control mechanisms.
• High integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial information.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Advanced level of English (C1/C2) with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading transitions from outsourced to internal accounting or implementing process improvements.
• Familiarity with project accounting software like BigTime or similar.
• Background in professional services, construction, architecture, engineering, or design industries.
• Experience with luxury architecture, interior design, or high-end residential design firms is highly advantageous.
• Possession of CPA or equivalent accounting certification is a plus.

Additional Information

• This role operates on US business hours and requires immediate availability.
• The initial engagement is for three months as a contractor trial, with potential for long-term continuation subject to performance and company needs.
• Compensation ranges from $2,000 to $4,000 USD per month.
• This is a fully remote position based in Egypt.
