Financial Analyst

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to join our team in Toronto, ON on a hybrid basis. This role is a 12-month contract with a strong possibility of extension or transition to a full-time position. Working hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with no requirement for overtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, update, and improve financial models used for portfolio oversight and reporting purposes.
• Collaborate with senior management to execute enhancements and updates guided by business needs.
• Conduct monthly financial model rollovers ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
• Analyze financial datasets to identify significant trends, variances, and actionable business insights.
• Prepare and refresh executive-level reports and presentations leveraging Excel and PowerPoint.
• Support both regular and special financial reporting tasks efficiently.
• Provide analytical assistance by responding to business partners’ inquiries through data collection, validation, and review.
• Investigate data discrepancies and offer timely analytical guidance.
• Extract necessary information from financial models and databases to aid decision-making.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and special projects, developing reports, models, and solutions as required.
• Identify process and reporting enhancements to increase efficiency and support team goals.
• Embrace new challenges while maintaining overall team support.

Candidate Profile

• Over three years of professional experience in financial analysis or comparable finance roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a similar field.
• Proficient in financial analysis and sophisticated financial modeling.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data analytics.
• Expertise in PowerPoint for business presentation development.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Ability to adapt rapidly and juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Positive approach with eagerness to learn and contribute across various tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power BI tools.
• Familiarity with SQL queries and databases.
• Background in banking or financial services sector.
