Financial Accountant

About the Role

A well-established and expanding FMCG company in Dublin 12 is looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to strengthen their finance team. This role presents a valuable chance for a driven accountant eager to advance their career in a dynamic commercial setting, with hands-on involvement in financial reporting, management accounting, compliance, and collaborative business support.

The position offers a diverse range of responsibilities including month-end reporting, preparation of statutory accounts, facilitating budgeting processes, and driving continuous improvements in financial procedures.

This is a permanent role with a hybrid work arrangement allowing two days per week working from home.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and contribute to monthly management accounts processes including journal entries and month-end reporting.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare and verify intercompany account reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Support and monitor capital expenditure, assess proposals and control budgeted spend.
• Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements and aid the external audit process.
• Take part in the annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Maintain compliance with Revenue requirements, preparing statutory returns monthly and bi-monthly as necessary.
• Provide support within the finance team, including payroll-related activities when required.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
• Assist with various financial analyses, reporting tasks, and business enhancement projects as needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent designation).
• At least two years of post-qualification experience in a fast-paced environment such as FMCG, manufacturing, or retail.
• Proven experience in preparing management accounts, financial statements, and completing month-end closures.
• Strong knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, and financial controls.
• Experience in supporting statutory accounts preparation and collaborating with external auditors.
• Familiarity with Revenue compliance, VAT returns, and intercompany reconciliations.
• Experience working with integrated ERP systems; familiarity with IFS is a plus.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel with excellent analytical and reporting capabilities.
• Payroll experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
