The Team
The film and television practice is regarded as one of the UK’s leading teams in this space, advising major UK production companies, US studios, SVOD platforms, and broadcasters working in the UK and across Europe.
Role Overview
This position is suited to an enthusiastic graduate, paralegal, or junior commercial lawyer who wants exposure to film and television-focused work within a busy and well-regarded Film & Television Group. The successful candidate will support the production team, with a primary focus on television production matters.
Responsibilities
- Support a busy production team across a broad mix of matters, gradually taking ownership of suitable tasks such as vendor agreement advice and template preparation.
- Serve as a first point of contact for queries coming in from active productions.
- Prepare, maintain, and update checklists and status reports.
- Assemble production packs and draft template documents.
- Keep documents and workflows aligned with legal, commercial, and client-specific updates, and help improve consistency across client production templates.
- Draft correspondence under supervision, with scope to handle suitable communications independently over time.
- Carry out legal and industry research.
- Review documents, including third-party agreements, and prepare amendments under supervision.
- Produce first drafts of talent agreements and other production-related contracts.
- Assist with negotiations under supervision.
- Provide client updates under supervision.
- Take notes during calls and meetings.
- Communicate by phone and email with production personnel to manage information flow and support the production team.
- Attend industry events and share updates with the wider team.
Requirements
- A strong commitment to working in a fast-paced team and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- A positive work ethic and readiness to go beyond core duties where needed.
- Solid academic background.
- Previous exposure to film and television is desirable, though not essential.
- LPC or SQE qualification is preferred, but not mandatory.
- High levels of accuracy and a strong standard of work.
- Well-developed organisational and time-management abilities.
- Commercial judgement and a practical mindset when making decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, plus good interpersonal ability.
- An independent, proactive problem solver who can handle a heavy workload under pressure.
- A hands-on attitude and willingness to take on tasks of any size.
- A willingness to learn and act on feedback.
