About BD and the Role
BD is a leading global medical technology company dedicated to advancing healthcare worldwide. We are currently seeking a seasoned Field Service Engineer to join our Wellington-based team, providing critical support for pharmacy automation and medication management solutions across New Zealand, including both retail pharmacies and hospital settings.
Responsibilities
- Utilize remote diagnostic tools alongside on-site servicing to maintain optimal performance of BD Rowa and Pyxis systems.
- Troubleshoot and rapidly address software and hardware malfunctions to reduce system downtime.
- Conduct repairs, preventative maintenance, system testing, and electrical safety verifications in the field.
- Assist with installations, commissioning, and handing over equipment to customers.
- Act as a primary technical liaison for electronics servicing, spare parts, and system-related inquiries.
- Perform workflow and system reviews during implementations and contribute to technical sales efforts.
- Effectively plan, schedule, and communicate maintenance visits and repairs aligned with customer operations.
- Document service activities clearly and maintain accurate, compliant service records.
- Provide support across New Zealand's central region, involving travel in North and South Islands and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Adapt to variable working hours, including after-hours and weekends as required by customer demands.
- Participate in an after-hours support roster to ensure swift response to service requests per SLAs and company standards.
- Be available for interstate travel on short notice as needed.
Candidate Profile
- Technically proficient and hands-on with strong troubleshooting capabilities in field service environments.
- Experience working with complex automated or electro-mechanical systems such as robotics, lab instruments, imaging equipment, or conveyancing systems.
- Skilled in interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Competent with server-based systems and remote diagnostic processes.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively manage customer expectations and interactions.
- Self-driven, professional, and capable of working independently.
- Possession of AS/NZS 3551 certification is advantageous.
- Relevant educational background such as an electronics/computing trade qualification, engineering diploma, or degree is preferred.

Additional Information
The role is based in Wellington and demands willingness to travel regularly throughout New Zealand's central region, including both islands.
