Farm Manager

Overview

The Farm Manager will oversee the comprehensive daily management of the farm property, including agricultural activities, livestock and poultry care, landscaping, facility upkeep, staff supervision, and overall estate operations. This role demands an involved, proactive individual skilled in both agricultural and residential farm management to maintain high standards in property, crop health, animal welfare, equipment, and personnel management.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct all farm and agricultural functions including planting, cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, pruning, and harvesting while monitoring crop health and productivity.
• Formulate seasonal planting strategies and crop care schedules, ensuring optimal use of fertilizers, pesticides, compost, and soil treatments.
• Manage irrigation infrastructure such as pumps, tanks, and water use efficiently and maintain detailed records of crop production and materials.
• Administer the daily care and management of livestock and poultry, ensuring proper feeding, housing, hygiene, and welfare standards.
• Coordinate animal health services with veterinarians, maintaining comprehensive records for vaccinations, breeding, and medical treatments.
• Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of animal facilities, monitor animal populations, and organize procurement or breeding plans accordingly.
• Supervise upkeep of the farmhouse, gardens, landscapes, pathways, and recreational areas, coordinating housekeeping, security, maintenance, and driver teams.
• Perform regular inspections of all estate facilities and infrastructure, ensuring readiness for owners, guests, and events.
• Lead and schedule estate staff, monitor attendance, performance, and compliance, and provide training on farm operations, safety, and hygiene.
• Manage agricultural machinery, vehicles, and equipment maintenance schedules, ensure safe equipment operation, and control inventory of fuel, tools, and spare parts.
• Handle procurement processes for farm supplies including feed, seeds, fertilizers, and maintenance materials, ensuring effective inventory management and supplier evaluation.
• Assist in budget preparation and cost monitoring for all farm and estate activities, aiming for efficient resource use and cost reductions without sacrificing quality or welfare.
• Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance in all farm operations, reporting incidents or risks promptly.
• Prepare comprehensive operational reports covering crops, livestock, staff, expenses, maintenance, and production data to inform management decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Farm Management, Horticulture, Animal Science, or related disciplines preferred.
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years' experience in managing farms, estates, or large agricultural properties, including both crop and animal management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams including farm workers, animal caretakers, gardeners, and maintenance personnel.
• Strong expertise in irrigation systems, horticulture, landscaping, crop cultivation, livestock management, and farm equipment operation.
• Experience working within the GCC region or Qatar is advantageous.
• Possession of a valid Qatar driving license is a plus.
