Role Overview
Join a specialist structural steelwork company located in Bristol as an Estimator, where you will play a crucial role in preparing accurate and competitive bids that balance programme, materials, labour, and risk to win and profitably deliver projects. This opportunity involves working within commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors, collaborating closely with clients, engineers, suppliers, and project teams to turn potential projects into successful contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed estimates and tender proposals for structural steelwork projects.
- Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation thoroughly.
- Quantify steelwork scopes and evaluate labour, material, and subcontractor expenses.
- Solicit and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors effectively.
- Highlight project risks, identify value engineering opportunities, and potential benefits during bidding.
- Assist in the smooth transition of successful bids to the project delivery teams.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in estimating for structural steelwork projects.
- Strong interpretive skills for engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Good knowledge of steel fabrication and erection processes.
- Track record of preparing competitive tenders within the structural steel sector.
- Excellent commercial insight and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capability to manage multiple bids and adhere to deadlines proficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience liaising directly with clients, engineers, and main contractors.
- Familiarity with digital estimating software and take-off tools.
- Knowledge spanning various sectors such as commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
