Role Description
This full-time, on-site position based in Cork involves conducting comprehensive energy assessments for both residential and commercial buildings. Responsibilities include gathering data, constructing energy models, and analyzing results to identify efficiency enhancements and ensure regulatory compliance. The engineer will develop and appraise energy strategies for new and existing structures, advocate for passive house and low-energy designs, and explore opportunities for renewable energy integration.
Daily tasks encompass preparing technical reports and energy performance documents, assisting with Part L compliance, collaborating with architects, engineers, and contractors, and delivering clear recommendations to clients. Additional duties include contributing to energy demand forecasting, performing project feasibility analyses, and continuously refining internal tools and methodologies.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong expertise in Energy Engineering and Management, focused on building energy performance evaluation and optimization of energy efficiency.
- Excellent analytical capability to interpret technical data, conduct calculations, and formulate recommendations based on evidence.
- Knowledge of Mechanical Engineering principles and generalized energy concepts related to building services, HVAC systems, and renewable energy technologies.
- Possession of a relevant engineering degree, such as mechanical, energy, environmental engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Familiarity with building energy rating tools, energy modeling software, and national building regulations including compliance with Part L or its equivalents.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly to non-specialist audiences.
- Ability to safely work on-site, manage multiple projects concurrently, and collaborate efficiently within interdisciplinary teams.
- Professional engineering accreditation or chartership along with experience in passive house or low-energy building design is considered advantageous.
