Role Overview
The Electrical Distribution Technician specialized in high voltage systems will oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical distribution networks critical to airfield and base operations at Al Udeid Air Base. The position emphasizes working with high and medium-voltage electrical systems alongside the airfield lighting infrastructure to maintain safe, dependable, and continuous mission support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the operation, troubleshooting, and repair processes for high- and medium-voltage electrical distribution equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair airfield lighting systems encompassing runway, taxiway, apron, and navigation lights.
- Execute both planned and corrective maintenance tasks on electrical components and supporting infrastructure.
- Interpret and apply information from electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ensure adherence to the National Electrical Code (NEC), workplace safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and site-specific safety regulations.
- Collaborate with airfield operations teams and maintenance groups to meet mission-critical demands.
- Accurately record maintenance activities, inspections, and system conditions.
- Provide prompt response to emergencies including power outages and high-priority electrical faults.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of high school or an equivalent qualification.
- Current certification as either a Master Electrician or Journeyman Electrician.
- At least five years of direct experience handling high and/or medium-voltage electrical distribution systems.
- A minimum of five years’ practical involvement with airfield lighting systems, including runways, taxiways, and control panels.
- Proficient in installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within demanding operational settings.
Additional Criteria
- Possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Holding a valid U.S. Passport is preferred.
- Capability to comply with all USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements according to USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN.
- Eligibility to obtain and sustain a valid Residency Visa in Qatar.
- Ability to work safely in harsh environmental conditions, including high dust levels and elevated temperatures.
- Capacity to endure extended shifts and exposure to weather and potentially hazardous environments.
Travel and Security
This role requires full-time deployment with 100% travel to the assigned location. Candidates must hold and maintain an active Department of Defense Secret Clearance.
