Role Overview

The Drone Mapping Specialist will play a critical role in collecting high-quality aerial images across dairy farms, laying the groundwork for farm mapping, deployment planning, and delivering a seamless experience for farmers. This hands-on position requires traveling regionally to conduct drone flights, collaborating with farmers directly, and ensuring mapping tasks meet Halter's standards for safety and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct drone mapping on dairy farms by traveling within the assigned region.
• Schedule farm visits considering weather, farmer availability, travel logistics, and deployment priorities.
• Communicate with farmers ahead of visits to coordinate access and outline on-site procedures.
• Capture consistent, high-quality aerial imagery suitable for creating orthomaps used in paddock mapping and farm setup.
• Accurately upload, log, and verify mapping data following each farm visit.
• Maintain a professional representation of Halter when working on customer farms.
• Assist with other farm-related tasks as required.

Candidate Profile

• Confident communicator able to quickly build rapport with farmers and embody Halter's professionalism.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to independently plan and manage multiple farm visits across a region.
• Dependable and diligent, able to uphold commitments and sustain deployment workflow.
• Capable of working autonomously after training while keeping the broader team informed.
• Keen attention to detail in capturing and processing mapping data.
• Practical problem solver capable of adapting plans due to weather, access challenges, equipment issues, or farm conditions.
• Holds a full, clean driver's license.
• Willingness and ability to travel and stay overnight 2-3 nights per week.

Additional Information

There are two permanent positions available: one in the North Island and one in the South Island. Candidates can be based anywhere, providing they are willing to travel as required.
