Dispatcher

Role Overview

As a Dispatcher at First Student, you will play a vital role in upholding our commitment to safety and exceptional customer service. Your primary responsibility will be managing bus dispatch operations, ensuring timely route performance, and providing guidance to drivers and monitors on the front lines.

Key Duties

• Coordinate all bus routes and scheduling activities.
• Provide counseling and coaching support to drivers and monitors.
• Manage intense phone and radio communications.
• Address scheduling and driver complaints, escalating issues to the Operations Supervisor or Contract Manager as needed.
• Act as the main communication conduit with the primary contracted customer.
• Occasionally manage charter reservations, billing processes, and driver payroll tasks.
• Resolve issues related to pick-up and drop-off operations.
• Perform backup driver functions and miscellaneous clerical duties when required.
• Complete special project assignments as assigned.
• Assist in overseeing daily operational activities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Between three and five years of relevant experience.
• Completion of high school or equivalent educational background.
• Familiarity with radio dispatch equipment and related technology.
• Strong communication skills paired with excellent customer service abilities.
• Capability to perform effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Prior experience in terminal operations, dispatching, or as a driver.
• Comfortable using computers and relevant software.
