Data Engineer / BI Developer

About the Role

Avanceon Middle East & South Asia is seeking a proficient Data Engineer / BI Developer to join their team in Doha, Qatar. The role requires a solid foundation in database management alongside practical experience in crafting reporting solutions, data integration across systems, and developing interactive dashboards to aid operational and business decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities

• Write and maintain advanced SQL queries, including stored procedures, functions, views, and schedule database jobs.
• Design and enhance database architectures, reporting schemas, and data models.
• Develop and implement ETL pipelines to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources.
• Create and manage Tableau dashboards, reports, and KPI monitoring systems.
• Build efficient Tableau data sources with calculations, drill-down capabilities, and filters.
• Optimize query performance and validate data quality.
• Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Development teams, GIS specialists, SCADA engineers, and client teams to deliver analytic and reporting services.
• Provide ongoing support for data analysis, troubleshooting, and improvement of reporting tools.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years' professional experience in SQL development, data engineering, business intelligence, or report generation.
• Deep proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, including SQL queries, database objects (stored procedures, views, functions), and query optimization.
• Strong skills in database design and data modeling techniques.
• Hands-on experience developing ETL workflows and integrating data from multiple sources.
• Proven capabilities in crafting Tableau dashboards and reports.
• Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Experience working within Agile or Scrum development environments.

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with both MSSQL and Oracle database platforms.
• Experience with SSIS or equivalent ETL tools.
• Comfort using Tableau for BI solutions.
• Working knowledge of development and collaboration tools such as GitHub and JIRA.
