Role Overview
A growing Ontario-based firm is seeking a Data Analyst responsible for transforming field-collected data into actionable insights that facilitate improved decision-making processes. This is a full-time permanent role based in Newmarket, ON, requiring on-site presence five days a week with expected and compensated overtime work remotely.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee, verify, and analyze data from the company's proprietary field reporting platform.
- Create, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, and visual data presentations for internal teams and utility clients.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on incoming data sets, investigating discrepancies or abnormalities.
- Leverage advanced Excel skills and other analytical tools to perform detailed data analysis.
- Manage and optimize databases supporting reporting, including data sources, metadata, and security protocols.
- Identify and resolve reporting issues, implementing enhancements to improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency.
- Build and automate processes for data cleansing, validation, and report generation.
- Partner with software developers, project managers, and clients to translate reporting needs into effective data solutions.
- Prepare data exports and facilitate integrations with external systems such as GIS and enterprise databases.
- Provide training to internal staff and clients on the use of reporting interfaces and dashboard features.
- Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual tasks and improve reporting workflows.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in data analysis or equivalent analytic roles.
- Proficient handling of large datasets and experience with relational database systems.
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel including advanced formulas like XLOOKUP, TEXTJOIN, COUNTIFS, PivotTables, and VBA programming.
- Practical experience in SQL and database querying techniques.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with tools such as Python, R, Power BI, or similar data visualization and analytics software.
- Experience working within SharePoint and Microsoft 365 environments.
